Elk Grove Unified has several programs that help 3 and 4-year old children get ready for kindergarten. The programs are funded from different sources and their requirements vary by funding source. Programs include Head Start, Title I Preschool, State Preschool and Partners Parent Participation Preschool. Children in all of these PreK programs participate in educational activities focusing on emerging literacy and numeracy skills. They also receive health follow-up, have healthy meals and snacks and enjoy playing outdoors in a safe setting.
